Dir: Saji Surendran
Cast: Jayasurya, Ananya
THE BASICS: Director Saji Surendran and scenarist Krishna Poojappura were known for their TV serials when they launched Ivar Vivahitharayal, with Jayasurya in the lead. The film became a big success and the team, along with cinematographer Anil Nair, made Happy Husbands and Fo(u)r Friends. While Happy Husbands (remake of bollywood blockbuster No Entry) became a hit, Fo(u)r Friends sank without a trace.
THE PLOT: Jayaraman (Jayasurya) had to leave Gopalapuram, where his three married sisters and uncle lived, as he was considered lazy. He goes to the Gulf but when he loses his job there, his friend Preman (Suraj Venjarammoodu) has a fantastic idea. Preman writes to his family members that Jayaraman has just won a 50 crore lottery. As he comes back, Jayaraman is not just the darling of the family, but of the whole village!
THE REVIEW: With an asinine storyline, bad direction and ridiculous performances, Kunjaliyan is a let down from the word go. Jayasurya, who showed some promise playing the quadriplegic in the recent Beautiful, is back to square one with a really ordinary show. Ananya has nothing much to do. Okay visuals and pathetic songs by M G Sreekumar add to your headache. Strictly for those silly minds who are ready to laugh watching any jokes on screen.
